Why perennial vegetables?
Imagine growing vegetables that require just about the same amount of care as the flowers in your perennial beds and borders―no annual tilling and potting and planting. They thrive and produce abundant and nutritious crops throughout the season and continue year after year. It sounds too good to be true, but in this video, Eric Toensmeier, author of Perennial Vegetables and Edible Forest Gardens introduces gardeners to this world of little-known and wholly underappreciated plants. We’ve grown most of the plants featured in this video here in Guanacaste, Costa Rica and had and abundance of repeat harvests.
